NEWSFLASH! by Bongo Bear
In what has got to be one of the most unusual uber offerings I've ever read, Bongo delivers a rather effective commentary on the ethical problems of modern science, the craving in us all for a connection with others and the hubris of humanity in continuing to challenge the edicts of nature. Presented as a series of news reports - Bongo's latest chronicles the efforts of a group of scientists to clone a saber-tooth tiger from the prehistoric era - and then repeat the procedure using the bones of two Ancient Greek females discovered buried together in a recently unearthed tomb. The reports follow the events in the lives of these modern "science experiments" as they struggle to survive in a world they weren't meant for all the while seeking the same connections that once gave their lives meaning. The impartial, straightforward style of writing, gives this uber exercise moments of both humor and unexpected pathos. Clever and thought-provoking. - 5 pgs., 11/9/99

This story finds Xena and Gabrielle on their honeymoon, very much in love and happy until the bard starts getting "performance anxiety". Not to fear, a certain goddess soon comes to the rescue with an...unusual gift. This tale is funny but may be somewhat of an acquired taste. Oh and be warned...it made me blush. ;-) - 8 pgs., 8/19/97
